Don't do it. I drilled two 1/2" holes in the back of mine. It was louder, yes, but not in a pleasant way -- too harsh. Performance was no better, and it did draw a stern look from a local police officer who was by the side of the road (and they're pretty lenient about noise here in northern Ohio.) It runs much better with the Supertrapp. Good sound, noticeably better acceleration, and much milder backfires, which I kind of like. Only carb mod was to drill out the plug and fatten up the bottom end.
